Saltpeter is something that everyone who has lived by the coast knows. It’s the salt of the sea, the entrails of the earth that corrodes and chisels the wrinkles of memory. It’s the faded paint of a wrecked boat, it’s the creased skin of the elders, it’s the constant living tradition that connects hands with the soil. It’s wine, grapes, terroir, nature; constantly evolving the past and marking the future.

Saltpeter Wines is Maddie & David

We know what we love to drink, and that is; the fun, honest, silent product of hard work and passion. From people who believe in a different philosophy. Who work alongside nature -not against it- to create a product that shows its origins, and that is not modified in laboratories to achieve a certain flavour or profile.

When we visit a producer we don’t want to see the state of the art technology. We want to see terroir, stones, plants and a living vineyards: and enjoy all that inside a glass. We have been visiting artisan producers all around Europe and wine bars; from Spain to Austria, from Italy to Germany. We want to bring a piece of that to Woodbridge… to share with friends around a table.
